'Australian Sounds' Concert

'In Pursuit Of Excellence' wrapped up the first half of the 'Australian Sounds' concert on Sunday July 3rd 2022. The concert featured works of nine Australian composers performed by the Castle Hill RSL Youth Wind Orchestra and North West Wind Ensemble. YWO's performance of 'In Pursuit Of Excellence' is the best I have seen! The concert will soon be available to view online.

Available now is a 3-pack of Christmas tunes titled 'A Christmas Trio' (Grade 1). Includes Jingle Bells, Good King Wenceslas and We Wish You A Merry Christmas. My beginner band from 2020 really enjoyed this arrangement of Jingle Bells at the end of last year. We Wish You A Merry Christmas has been part of my youth band's Christmas repertoire since 2018. We play it at our local community carols sing-a-long. I just needed one more piece for an easy Christmas pack, and decided on Good King. New Releases for 2021

2021 sees the release of a number of new pieces. The 'Suite Scotland' (grade 2.5) project has finally been completed with the release of the version for String Orchestra. 'Amazing Grace' (grade 3) was a project from a few years ago that I had trouble finding time for the final touches. 'O Magnum Mysterium' (grade 4) a transcription of the late renaissance work by Tomas Luis de Victoria was mostly completed during lockdown in 2020. 'Marche Militaire' (grade 2.5) an arrangement I did for my Senior Concert Band at Beecroft Public School. Other exciting projects are still in progress!

O Magnum Mysterium

'O Magnum Mysterium' was written by Tomas Luis de Victoria (1548 - 1611) and considered one of the greatest works of the late renaissance. It's a 4 part motet that is largely polyphonic and is a great example of the complexity of choral music in the church at that time. The text is from The Matins of Christmas which is thought to date back to the 10th century and has been set to music by many composers.
